Today was my last day at Konami HWI, the studio is being shut down this December. It’s been an interesting four years, but I’ll always be grateful to Konami for allowing me the opportunity to animate for a living and surf in Hawaii. I’m really going to miss the people, they’re the best.

Just a little more polish and it’ll be done. Here’s a render with no motion blur.

hopefully it works on macs. Maybe I should just pay the money for quicktime pro.

well I’ve already started another animation. This one is my first attempt using reference footage. I’m still keeping it cartoony, but I already think it’s going to turn out better than “The Hat“. Hurray for reference!

ok… so I think I’m done with this animation. I’m not very happy with the way it turned out, but they say you learn more from your mistakes than you do from your successes. Let’s hope so. What did I learn? To use reference footage. I’ve got into the bad habit of never using reference footage, I blame working under very tight deadlines ;). Overall I think it’s really hurt the quality of my animations. So my next animation is going to be a reference footage test. Hopefully it turns out a little better.
here’s the playblast, theHat.avi
